Well, my hat is off to you Jon. As a parent, I never would have been able to keep my cool on the interview you had with Mr. Uitenbogaard. It obviously escapes him that at 12 years of age, that the brain is not fully developed, and in most circumstances neither is the body.
I live in North America and I had a child at 17. I do not regret my child, but I can speak from personal experience that the emotional and physical impact of having a child so young was not at all healthy. I can look back now and see that I had made bad choices that I paid dearly for. Mr. Uitenbogaard does not understand that a person under the age of 18 cannot possibly have the wisdom to be responsible for the consequences of being sexually active at such an early age.
We do not allow children to vote, simply because they are easily influenced and have a limited knowledge base on which to draw. The same is true of childhood sexual intercourse.
For heaven sake, let our children actually have a childhood. Why put the pressure of sexuality on them as such a tender age. Twelve year olds should be playing soccer, chewing bubble gum and only have to worry about focussing on their academics. Our children must already grow up too fast as we must train them at a younger age to watch out for people who can potentially harm and/or kill them. Gone are the days when a kid can play safely in their front yard, neighbourhood street hockey or basketball.
It strikes me that it is likely that Mr. Uitenbogaard does not have children. I believe his opinion would substantially change upon experiencing parenthood. He would then comprehend the naievity and innocence of children.
If he is a parent would he condone his children having sex at 12? Does he have sex with children that are 12? Is he simply someone who thinks he is very liberal or is Mr. Uitenbogaard a pedofile himself?
Well, I'm a parent too, but I felt that this development was interesting enough to take seriously. As the program's first 3 quarters spoke of pedophiles negatively, I thought in the interest of balance I could give someone a chance who feels otherwise.
As to whether Mr. Uitenbogaard is a pedophile, I didn't ask for two reasons.
1. I didn't want to prejudice the interview.
2. We can safely assume he is.
As for whether or not his opinion would change if he were a parent, I don't think so.
My personal opinion is pedophiles in general, and certainly these guys who are activists, would change nothing. Pedophiles are highly resistent to therapy.
Personally, I feel this party is an agenda setting exercise looking to equate pedophiles with homosexuals who were once misunderstood and gaining more acceptance.
It seems clear that this comparison is misguided. Consenting adults should be able to do what they look. Children are simply not adults and therefore their consent is void as the ability to make informed emotional decisons has not yet developed.

I think it's safer to presume that we don't really know how pedophiles think. I'm sure some are tortured out of control individuals who have a terrible sense of guilt about behavior. Others, like Mr. Uitenbogaard et al, have turned it around and blame society for their situation and are, therefore, trying to change society.
We can take solace in the knowledge that this party only has 10 members.
